Spun to create a shiny silk yarn from wild cocoon, Sakusan silk is a beautiful off-white natural color.

While silks produced from cocoons raised domestically are called kasan silk (家蚕糸), the silk produced from cocoons that grow in the wild is known as yasan silk. Sakusan silk (柞蚕糸) is one type of this wild silk. There are various types of wild silk categorized by the types of leaves the cocoons consume and their country of origin.

While kasan silk is known for its high quality and luster, sakusan silk, though somewhat coarser, has a unique charm. Many people appreciate the distinctive rustic qualities of sakusan silk.

It can be dyed before you start your next knitting or weaving project.
